We are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome Ty and his owner Dolly to our school. Ty is a therapy dog and we are honoured that we are the first school that Ty has chosen to visit.
As a pilot initiative, the children from 3rd – 5th classes met Ty for short periods on Wednesday mornings in the last term of the 2023/24 school year. Ty loves meeting all the boys and girls and they love meeting him more!! He loves to relax and listen to stories. The children love to relax with Ty and they read to him in our school library.
The children have all provided very positive feedback from their experience with Ty – reporting reduced general feelings of anxiety, nervousness and worry and increased feelings of relaxation, calm and happiness and greater self-confidence in reading!
Well done Ty!! We are looking forward to having you back in the new school year.
