School Ethos
Our School Ethos
Scoil na Trionoide Naofa is a co-educational Catholic Primary School under the patronage of Bishop Denis, the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin (www.kandle.ie).
While the majority of our children are catholic we do also have children of a variety of faiths and of no faith. All children are welcomed, cherished, respected and their beliefs are acknowledged and celebrated.
Like all Catholic schools, we aim to promote and nurture the holistic development of each pupil i.e. their intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual development. In Allen National School we strive to encourage, resource, facilitate and support the children to know, live and pray their Catholic faith.
We model and teach respect for everyone, kindness, empathy, consideration, peace, patience, justice, care of the environment and prepare pupils for three sacraments:
- The Sacrament of First Reconciliation/First Confession.
- The Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
- The Sacrament of Confirmation.
In teaching Religious Education, we follow the Grow in Love Programme.
The following dates in the Liturgical Calendar are celebrated:
- In November We Remember – all the loved ones we have lost.
- In December we celebrate Advent and Christmas.
- In January we celebrate Catholic Schools Week including Grandparents’ Day.
- In March/April we celebrate Easter.
- Throughout the year, Feast Days are noted.
