We would like to sincerely thank the members of our community who volunteered to help clear the snow in our school. Your acts of kindness are greatly appreciated by staff, parents and pupils. Thank you!
We had a wonderful morning in Allen N.S. celebrating Grandparents’ Day! Grandparents travelled from near and far to join us on this special day. The children prepared for the day by sharing their favourite memories of their grandparents, creating poems, singing songs, making crafts, and even carrying out interviews with grandparents.
The grandparents were welcomed to our school hall, to be entertained by our talented school choir. The choir are partaking in ‘Peace Proms’ this Sunday and so they sang a collection of the songs that they have been preparing.
After the performance, grandparents were then treated to tea and treats. We would like to thank the members of the P.T.A who helped to serve tea/coffee.
The grandparents were then given a St. Brigid’s Cross, made by 6th Class pupils, as a small token of our appreciation for their constant support and kindness. They then had an opportunity to visit their grandchildren in their classrooms.
We felt truly honoured to welcome such special people into our school today. We hope they enjoyed their morning as much as we did!
‘By our side or far apart,
Grandparents are always in our hearts!’
Note: Closing date for receipt of completed enrolment forms for September 2018 is 31st January 2018.
We recently received an invitation from Bishop Denis to attend the launch of Catholic Schools week. Mr. Hanafin, Ms. McCabe and three pupils from 6th Class represented our school. The prayer service took place in the Diocesan Cathedral, Carlow.
The pupils brought our prayer petition box to the cathedral, which was then blessed by Bishop Denis. We were then presented with a copy of the Icon of the Holy Family for our school prayer space. The pupils, staff, families and members of the community are invited to place their prayers in our prayer box, which will be kept in our school sacred space, located in the main entrance hall.
Catholic Schools week takes place between 28th January and 4th February 2018.
Well done to Holly, Katie and Zoe from 6th Class, who represented Allen N.S at the launch. We are extremely proud of the girls and thank them for representing our school with pride, in a mature, responsible manner.
Well done to all pupils from 2nd - 6th Class who participated in our annual Christmas quiz. It was wonderful to see children from different classes working together, praising each other and having fun. Congratulations to the winning teams! Thank you to the P.T.A for providing the prizes for our top five teams.
