We were very fortunate in Allen NS today. Our school was visited by three of Kildare’s champions and their winning cups - The U20’s All Ireland and Leinster, The Christy Ring and The Leinster Junior cup. The pupils of Allen NS were given an opportunity to ask the players some questions, which proved to be very insightful and inspiring. We would like to thank Jimmy, Bernard and Declan for visiting our school and we congratulate them on their huge success!
We are so proud of 5th class who have made it into the Regional Final of the Our World Irish Aid Awards with their project entitled "Allen NS secure victory with 17 goals!!". The regional final takes place in Dublin on May 15th. Best of luck to the class and well done for doing the school proud!!!
The P.T.A recently held a bag packing event in order to raise funds for our school. We would like to sincerely thank the members of the P.T.A and those who volunteered their time or contributed to the event. We are thrilled to announce that the event raised almost €900! The funds raised will go towards equipping our new Sensory Room.
A prize was given to the pupil of Allen N.S. who had the most volunteers to support the fundraiser on the day. Ned Dunne, a 2nd Class pupil, won prizes for his whole class, thanks to the support from four of his family members!
We had a wonderful morning in Allen N.S. celebrating Grandparents’ Day! Grandparents travelled from near and far to join us on this special day. The children prepared for the day by sharing their favourite memories of their grandparents, creating poems, singing songs, making crafts, and even carrying out interviews with grandparents.
The grandparents were welcomed to our school hall, to be entertained by our talented school choir. The choir are partaking in ‘Peace Proms’ this Sunday and so they sang a collection of the songs that they have been preparing.
After the performance, grandparents were then treated to tea and treats. We would like to thank the members of the P.T.A who helped to serve tea/coffee.
The grandparents were then given a St. Brigid’s Cross, made by 6th Class pupils, as a small token of our appreciation for their constant support and kindness. They then had an opportunity to visit their grandchildren in their classrooms.
We felt truly honoured to welcome such special people into our school today. We hope they enjoyed their morning as much as we did!
‘By our side or far apart,
Grandparents are always in our hearts!’
